Ceangal 2012

Ceangal is a collaboration between Indian artist Somu Desai and Gairloch-based artist Lynn Bennett-Mackenzie, to hold a series of international artists’ residencies in the Scottish Highlands. Somu is experienced in leading residency programmes having been involved a similar project in Rajasthan, while Lynn has been researching the idea for over a year following her participation in an international artists symposium in Elabuga, Russia in August 2010.

The project  creates cultural and artistic exchanges and make possible many future opportunities on different levels. As the name Ceangal implies, the aim is to connect artists, people, art, cultures, places, and make the Highlands a hub for art forms that have not traditionally been very accessible there.

More about the Ceangal artists 2012 Here.

This residency has been organised with the support of the local & wider community, Highland Council, and assistance from businesses both here and abroad.

The organisers would like to thank all those involved for their support and of course to the artists, without whom this would not have been possible.

We hope you enjoy seeing both the works here, and around the Gairloch area.
